I'm honored to have received a Silver Award for my photograph Morning Ripples at the 2026 Glema Mahr Juried Art & Photography Exhibit.
A special thank you to Glema Mahr for hosting the exhibition and to juror Robert Dickes for his thoughtful critique of my work. I wanted to share his comments below.
JUROR'S CRITIQUE | ROBERT DICKES
Josh Morgan’s Morning Ripples exemplifies the discipline and patience that exceptional wildlife photography demands. His work consistently demonstrates a remarkable command of detail, clarity, and timing, and this photograph is no exception.
There is a quiet precision to the image. Every element feels considered, from the rendering of the subject to the subtle movement across the water. The photograph does not rely on spectacle; instead, its strength comes from observation and restraint.
Wildlife photography often requires hours of waiting for a moment that may last only seconds. Morgan’s photograph reflects that patience while also demonstrating the technical control necessary to recognize and preserve that fleeting moment. His consistency as a wildlife photographer is impressive, and Morning Ripples is another strong example of why his work continues to stand out.
